Vintage Sparkle! Blue Zircon & Diamond Ring

Title Default Title
Qty:

A very nicely neat and pretty vintage solitaire ring of Blue Starlight Zircon set with hand cut Diamond shoulders. All hand crafted in 18ct Yellow Gold and with a fine Platinum crown to the feature gemstone and tracing across the shoulders, the work is quite especially fine.

The Zircon has a similar refractive index to the Diamond and so is immensely glittersome; in this case treated with heat to create this distinctive pale blue colour which was know as 'Starlight'.

'The earliest known reference to blue zircon is from 1927 when Dr. George Frederick Kunz spoke about "the newly popular Starlite zircon" in a lecture to the New York Mineralogical Club. However, the process of treating brown zircon from Cambodia to create blue zircon was likely discovered sometime between 1904 and 1927.'

The ring size is a 'J' or '5.25' as is and we can alter to suit for free if you leave a message on your order form. Inside the band is a maker's mark 'F.H.L' which we've not been able to identify so far.
